Hydrodynamic Performance of an Asymmetry OWC Device Mounted on a Box-Type Breakwater

To share the construction and maintenance cost, an asymmetric oscillating water column (OWC) device integrated with a pile-fixed box-typed offshore breakwater is considered experimentally numerically. A fully nonlinear numerical wave tank established validated open source solver OpenFOAM. The effects of width draft rear box, incident height on energy conversion efficiency, reflection transmission coefficients, dissipation coefficient are examined. In addition, superiority present coupling system, compared to traditional box-type breakwater, discussed. With well comparisons, results show that existence beneficial for formation partial standing waves further conversion. range heights tested, higher height, larger absorption efficiency except short-wave regimes. Moreover, OWC-breakwater system can obtain similar blocking ability one, simultaneously extract decrease reflection.
